MrObviousHey.13:13
MrObviousI'm on FRX07 on a CDMA Diamond and when I text I get a message not sent error most of the time yet I know it goes through.13:13
MrObviousAlso, my speakerphone volume isn't very loud at all.13:14
MrObviousAnd is there a way to turn up the screen sensitivity?13:14

arrrghhhMrObvious, you asked 3 questions it seems13:30
arrrghhhfirst, please update to FRX07.113:30
MrObviousThere's a 7.1? :D13:30
arrrghhhi hope that fixes the SMS issue - dunno13:30
arrrghhhnever heard of that13:30
arrrghhhyes of course...13:30
arrrghhhi wouldn't mention it just to mess with you13:30
MrObviousCan I keep my data.img with the update?13:30
arrrghhhok, maybe i would but that's not the point13:30
arrrghhhyes13:30
MrObviouslol13:30
arrrghhhspeakerphone volume, it's a known-bug on RAPH/DIAM13:30
MrObviousOk.13:31
arrrghhhnot much of a fix for it yet.  need the new acoustic magic methinks13:31
arrrghhhscreen sensitivity - you mean you have to press hard in order for it to recognize a press...?13:31
MrObviousYeah. My screen has a crack in it and I don't have to push as hard in WM.13:31
arrrghhhcuz you can recalibrate the screen pretty easily, but that's only if you press somewhere and it actually presses elsewhere.13:31
arrrghhhi'm not aware of any way to mess with the sensitivity - perhaps the phone is just being slow?13:32
*** Yusuke14 has quit IRC13:32
arrrghhhi've noticed that i thought it wasn't registering my touch... but the phone was just pooping itself.13:32

MrObviousHmm. So it may not hurt to calibrate eh?13:33
arrrghhhdoes the sensitivity seem to change is my question13:33
arrrghhheh that never hurts.13:33
arrrghhhunless you touch the points all wrong13:33
arrrghhhperhaps that would hurt :P13:33
MrObviousUm it seems like it isn't as sensitive as I would like. I have to push down pretty hard.13:35
MrObviousIn WM I barely touch compared to that.13:35
MrObviousNot to sound dumb but where is the 7.1 download link? I looked on the XDA thread and also xdandroid.com.13:39
arrrghhhit's in both13:41
arrrghhhand i'm not sure about your touchscreen issue...13:42
arrrghhhjust relaying my experience which might've been similar13:42
arrrghhhif it's all the time... hrm.13:42

arrrghhhi wonder if his RIL in FRX06+ was before or after that rootfs change...15:37
arrrghhhthe "old" RIL used to go in the rootfs, in /lib/froyo15:37
arrrghhhthe "new" RIL now goes in /system/lib15:37
arrrghhhi don't remember exactly when that change took place...15:37
arrrghhhhopefully it's already in 06+...15:37
fishingmedicthat's right...  I have no clue when the change took place, but IIRC from his post on his site, he did have somewhat of an updated RIL in there.15:38
arrrghhhheh15:38

mgross029tru17:00
arrrghhhusually a kernel panic or some such thing that causes those17:00
arrrghhhbad sd card, SMD channels seizuring, etc.17:01
arrrghhhwhy isn't seizuring a word17:01
mgross029Maybe it was a windows update...  lol17:01
mgross029Well if I can't get things back up I can always wipe and redo...  Also have a couple more sd cards at home...17:02
arrrghhhk17:02
arrrghhhlogs will always help17:03
arrrghhhfrom reboots you'll need to pull them from /data/system/dropbox17:03
arrrghhhfor reboots*17:03
mgross029Ok...  Thx...  I'll check them out if it keeps up before I reload to see what the cause it...17:03
arrrghhhk17:04
arrrghhhgood luck17:04
mgross029I'm out...  Have a good one...17:05

rpierce99hmmm, reading through the ril and trying to figure out why some phones have this issue and some don't17:42
rpierce99There is some branching logic here for the phone having cdma & gsm radio, but no sim installed using just cdma mode, makes me wonder if there's something in common with these guys that can't receive calls17:43
rpierce99also things like voice privacy on/off17:44

arrrghhhhey thar18:17
arrrghhhso you think it's the SIM path that's effecting it?18:17
arrrghhhlike if they had a SIM in, it would be fine?18:17
arrrghhhIIRC i have no SIM in.18:17
arrrghhhshit18:18
arrrghhhi do have a SIM in, i forgot i put that donor SIM in ...18:18
rpierce99i believe i also reinstalled my sim18:34
arrrghhhheh18:35
arrrghhhwould be quite ironic if that was "the fix"18:35
arrrghhhhave any GSM users reported this issue...?  I'm almost positive this is a uniquely CDMA issue.18:35
arrrghhhi guess i should pull this SIM to see what horrors happen18:36
arrrghhhit's like riding a car without a fire extinguisher and saying "good cars do not burn"18:37
arrrghhhlol18:37
arrrghhhi love reading the logs.18:37
rpierce99i'm just trying to pinpoint why there are a certain number of users who have the issue, software and hardware being identical18:39
rpierce99there has to be a variable18:39
rpierce99maybe it's an app, a setting, a hardware thing like a sim cart, whatever18:39
rpierce99nothing is random18:39
rpierce99there is not a random number generator deciding whether the ril works or not18:39
arrrghhhyea18:41
arrrghhhlol18:41
arrrghhhyou sure?18:41

mikereidisHi !  I have an FM app on the Market: Spirit FM Radio. It seems to work on Touch Pro 2, but no audio. SND_GET_ENDPOINT on /dev/msm_snd shows no FM_HEADSET or similar as on some ROMs.20:18
mikereidisAnyone with any knowledge of audio routing, especially analog FM ? Thanks !20:19
rpierce99has nothing to do with FM, currently our audio routing code is kernel-only, android has no way to turn on/off the headset/speakers20:21
rpierce99that's not 100% true but for the most part it's accurate, some things like phone calls and such are technically android and do have an affect on audio routing20:23
mikereidisMy app has several methods to handle audio routing. On several devices, there is a /dev/msm_snd device. I can write IOCtls to this, which means I don't have to rely on libaudio code. (As long as I can open the dev.)20:28
mikereidisI don't have the Rhodium 100 but have seen the log results of some commands including a command to enumerate the sound endpoints.  I get a list with 7 items include HEADSET and HEADSET_AND_SPEAKER.20:30
rpierce99oh so you're a dev trying to support a user running this build?20:31
mikereidisBasically I'd need a kernel driver for sound that includes endpoints such as "FM_HEADSET" or "FM_SPEAKER". I'd bet code from other HTC devices would work on these MSM7201 (?).20:31
mikereidisYes, a dev trying to support devices on this ROM. The more devices, the better. :)20:31
rpierce99most users will be running this kernel http://gitorious.org/linux-on-qualcomm-s-msm/linux-msm20:32
rpierce99some run alternates, but those are billed as experimental testing kernels20:33
rpierce99that is the only officially supported tree20:33
rpierce99#htc-linux is where all of the kernel dev happens for that kernel20:33
mikereidisOK, thanks I'll take a peek at that kernel. I have to go now, but if anyone wants to discuss I'll be back in an hour or so.20:37

rpierce99so the way that the RIL turns on in-call audio is through /sys/class/vogue_hw/audio, writing 2 turns it on, 5 turns it off, probably not what you want for FM but maybe it'll point you in the right direction mikereidis20:46

ToFraHi Guys!21:23
ToFraI have a really strange issue.. I want to do a factory reset of my Desire HD, and it will not let it reset... :(21:24
ToFraI tried: 1) Settings->SD & Phone -> Factory reset..21:24
ToFraWhen rebooting, it hangs on the white screen with HTC..21:24
ToFraNeed to take the battery out, and then it will start, but still nothing has been reset..21:24
ToFraThen I tried 2) Volume down+Power->Factory reset21:24
ToFraAgain, same thing as above...21:24
ToFraThen I tried 3) Running RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.50.405.2_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_199042_signed21:24
ToFraIt says install is fine, phone is rebooting, and it still hangs........21:24
ToFraAfter taking out battery, putting it in again, nothing is resetted.....21:24
ToFraSo i'm stuck, and can't reset my phone... any idea what I need to do??21:25
ryannathansCan you flash another ROM?21:43
ToFraI cannot do perm root..21:45
ToFrathen it's not possible, right?21:45
ToFrainstalling earlier RUU's doest work. tried it already..21:45
ryannathansShould still be able to flash stock ROM21:45
ToFrayeah, I did..21:46
stinebdwe do not support that device21:46
ToFrait says that it is installed, and ready for use..21:46
ToFrabut it will hang when rebooting..21:46
ryannathansWe shall take this to pm21:47
stinebdi'm sorry, i don't mind if you talk about it here but i just wanted to be clear that it's not an xdandroid device21:53
ryannathansIndeed21:54
ryannathansFile System appears to be "corrupt", old data is accessible on cold boot, everything creashes, temp root and ADB is working22:01
ryannathansBest action?22:01
stinebdasking me?22:02
ToFra:D22:02
ryannathansyes22:02
stinebdbuy a new device22:02
ToFrahaha lol.. :D22:02
ToFrabut seriously, any idea?22:03
stinebdwhich filesystem is corrupt? userdata?22:04
ryannathansTo me, if flashing new ROMs fails, it would appear to be a hardware problem, or something not easily repairable22:04
ToFrawell, flashing tells it is succesfully flashed, and ready for use..22:04
ToFrabut upon booting it hangs..22:05
ToFratrying to flash it again..22:06
ToFrafor the last time today... as I getting very frustrated..22:06
ToFrahehe..22:07
ryannathanscan you see any evidence that the new rom is acutally flashed22:08
stinebdi'd back up (if necessary) non-system data and apps and wipe everything and try from scratch22:08
ryannathansToFra: Can we use recovery mode?22:08
ToFraI want to start from scratch..22:09
ToFrahow do I wipe it?22:09
ToFradelete everything :-)22:09
stinebddo you have fastboot access?22:09
* ryannathans hides22:09
ToFraeh, let me try in a minute.. it's flashing :D22:09
stinebdhttp://www.htc.com/sea/faqs.aspx?p_id=324&cat=90&id=14962622:10
stinebdseems bootloader has a feature for it anyway22:10
ToFrawell.. I don't have that option..22:10
ToFraMine is called factory reset..22:10
stinebdit's the same thing22:11
stinebdjust a localization difference22:11
ToFraOk, but with selecting that, it reboots, and hangs...22:11
ToFraflashing is done now.. you wanne see prove?22:11
ToFra:D22:11
ToFrait says: Congratiualations.. The rom update is complete, your phone is ready for use..22:11
ToFraand it's rebooting now..22:12
ToFrawhite screen with green HTC on it..22:12
ryannathanshow long have you left it?22:12
ToFrastill white screen..22:12
ToFrastill waiting..22:13
ToFraLast time it waited for 20 minutes..22:13
ryannathansis it not waiting for a screen tap?22:13
ToFraok, touched it 20 times now :D22:13
ToFrastill waiting..22:14
ToFraok, I took battery out..22:14
ryannathansif instructions on the page stinebd sent doesn't work, flash stock rom and RMA22:15
ToFralet's try the fastboot option..22:15
stinebdfastboot will be no different than what you just did22:15
ToFrahmmm :(22:15
stinebdin fact it's the exact same mechanism22:15
ToFraThen I think I need to give HTC a call..22:15
stinebdyes, it seems you likely have bad flash blocks22:15
ToFraAnd ofcourse I'm on 2 weeks holiday now..22:15
ToFramurphy's law..22:16
ToFrawhen something can go wrong, it will go wrong..22:16
ToFra:D22:16
stinebdmurphy's law? you should see what happened to my phone right before an international trip22:16
ToFraow?22:16
ryannathans^22:16
stinebdhttp://twitpic.com/4wdvmt22:17
ryannathansLol, talk about murphy's law22:18
ryannathansPlayStation 3 breaks, ehh, out of warrenty, *buys new one*, opens old one up, one cable melted. *solder solder solder* and it works -.-22:19
ToFraok, thanks guys for helping..22:19
ToFraI'm off to bed now..22:19

D3tul3jonpry,  sweet, what size matrix did you end up using23:10
jonpryboth23:10
